Just insert the flash on this adaptor, then, you can plug a cable like the Sony FA-CC1AM, on the FA-CS1AM adaptor.  And then, your flash can be controlled by your camera.

Increase the capabilities of your α DSLR camera with the FA-CS1AM off-camera shoe and the FA-CC1AM off-camera cable.

The FA-CS1AM Off-Camera Shoe for Flash (referred to below as “off-camera shoe”) is used for connecting an Off-Camera Cable for Flash (FA-CC1AM, optional) to a flash that does not have an accessory terminal.

You can also attach a tripod to the tripod screw hole.
